I know someone (quite non-white and queer) who had a big crush on Beatrix Kiddo, the “bride” from Kill Bill. General fan of the series. When I asked her why, she said Kiddo embodied a kind of strength she admired. So... polysemic puzzles again, haha, despite the obvious quasi-fascist art spectacle on its face.

Can Tarantino be (productively) revolutionary?

People are so psychically pressured in this era that the little whisper to just say, “eff it, let’s go watch a revenge fantasy and shout racial slurs” has a kind of 4chan troll-lord puerile appeal. Is it actually socially dangerous or lets off steam?

Eh... myself I can’t quite decide. I do think it’s late capitalist gladiator circus propaganda, which worries me most.

@dirtycommo No doubt! Tarantino is good at what he does, just not good *in* what he does. I watch his films from time to time, but good gravy one has to hold on to the inner arrow of basic ethics and view critically on that ride... He is the tutelary demon of amoral catharsis and harbinger of the torture porn era.

@dirtycommo The McEducation era. YouTube absolutely buries better options. The trendy wendies aren’t my thing, but I grant they fill a niche. Nevertheless, try finding more exacting but less glittery lecture options and the algorithms throw every shiny-shiny and stumbling block in one’s way.
