I think part of why a certain segment of the fediverse are being such jerks is they're used to the big corporate social media sites having terrible ineffective moderation that never blocks them (or worse, they're used to those sites having a financial incentive to not block them). Here instance moderators are actually doing something and they're upset because they can't get away with being jerks anymore.

Their site is showing a link to PIA that looks like a typical affiliate link. I am not sure whether this constitutes an actual advertisement by PIA, or of Kiwi Farms admins just put the link there without PIA's knowledge.

In any case, I'm going to reach out to PIA and let them know that Kiwi Farms is either using their trademark without permission, violating the affiliate terms, or just really not appropriate to be endorsing

So apparently Private Internet Access advertises on Kiwi Farms.

If you use PIA, stop.
