    I have been notified by an Admin here that they are getting 60 reports a day about my account. As far as I can tell, I'm not breaking any rules, and I've done my best to be a good person here. But this admin is going to suspend my account.

    It's the Admin's instance, so I fully support their choice to eliminate a source of frustration, but something to consider: a person who is doing nothing wrong can be run off one instance by a mob from another instance. That seems ... not cool. 1/x

    @riga

    I think the pyramid works better as descriptive than prescriptive. A person may have different amounts of, and desire for, each of the levels, and that can change over time.

    So, searching for self-actualization even though not all of the other levels are "full" makes sense to me.

    Feeling trapped sucks.

    Taking time to search for a way out, or ways to make things better, is probably worth it.

    Ugh. The squirrels have eaten ALL of the heads off of ALL of the sunflowers I planted, front yard and back. Those little fuckers.

    I did a lousy painting that left me frustrated and annoyed, so I grabbed another canvas, and decided that I was just going to practice mountains. The mountains aren't very good, which is okay, because I am learning and I've only done mountains five times, but I *love* the happy little evergreen on the right, which I made with the fan brush (I can't do them with a 1 or 2 inch brush to save my life).

    I'm pretty happy with the sky, too. I had a lot of fun with the clouds.

    I currently have accounts in two instances: here and mastodon.social. Still figuring out how/why to use each, but thinking I’ll talk more about academic stuff here and frivolous stuff there. Anyone have tips on handling accounts in multiple instances?

    There's an aboriginal concept of Restorative Justice that I think is interesting. There are some programs in Canada that implement it, though, for the most part, disputes or crimes are not handled that way. https://cjiwr.com/about-us/what-is-restorative-justice/

    One time I tried making an "alt" account on birdsite, but I couldn't figure out how to connect with my actual friends on it. Then I treated this like an alt account for a while, but now too many people see it. I don't really know what to do, I just want a quiet place with friends

    I want scifi films in which there is a vibrant, detailed, complex universe with plenty of background lore, but is about, say, a teenage girl finding her lost cat, or a group of socially awkward queers starting a band, or middle aged single homos finding love, or a pair of friends (one human and one alien) going on a camping trip where nothing bad happens.

    Ambient particulate air pollution reduces life expectancy at birth by average of 1 year, globally. Reducing particulate air pollution to WHO guideline levels would increase life expectancy as much as eliminating lung cancer and breast cancer, according to a study done by public health researchers in the US, Canada and UK.

    I'm still climbing the learning curve, but I did my 4th #BobRoss painting today, and I like more about it than I don't like.

    Are there any shortcuts to telling when there are no good answers to be had, or whether it's only THIS expert who doesn't know the answer?

    I realize consulting more experts and asking them could help determine this. However, consulting another expert is not cheap in time or money.

    Also, I know about reading scientific papers, but it's harder to detect when science doesn't know something than when it does.

    Any other strategies to consider?
