    @Elmkast

I haven't had many chances to make such a comparison. Mostly the topics I studied at university were ones for which there are no well-written books.

I remember a few courses where there were no textbooks available at all besides the instructor's course notes. It was frustrating, since when I was having trouble understanding things, there were no available alternate views written down.

Nothing can make me as happy today as this post by Erik Bernhardsson, in which he simulates buffet lines to figure out the best queueing method. It involves simulation by way of random food emoji (and a bunch of graphs). https://erikbern.com/2019/10/16/buffet-lines-are-terrible.html

It turns out delicious mango-like fruit grow in Southern Ontario.

I think it also helps to acknowledge that you're in a shitty situation, so it makes sense that you might be feeling shitty about it.

This seems to get lost somehow in a lot of advice. It's ok to feel shitty about shitty things, especially when in shitty circumstances, which, from what I can tell, you seem to be in.

Also, if there is something non-destructive that you can do to help your body feel better, it may be worth doing it, even if it costs some time or money. But some things don't even cost much time or money, like going to get a glass of water. The tough part is noticing it might be time to drink water, or eat, or stretch, or rest, or whatever might help at that moment.

I think it's not so much a matter of keeping unwanted thoughts at bay - there's not much you can do to stop them from occurring, especially in times of stress when there is an effect on the body.

Mostly, I recognize that the thoughts are not an accurate and complete representation of my desires and notice them, but mostly ignore them. Like, I acknowledge that the thought is there, but don't give much weight to it.

The ones I've watched lately aren't much like the ones you mentioned:
Nodame Cantabile (heartfelt comedy about student pianists),
Cells at Work (a red blood cell's life is saved by a white blood cell - will she ever see him again?)

I also have heard that some of the light novels I've read have been made into anime. I haven't actually watched them, but I like the light novels.
    eg.
In Another World With My Smartphone
Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?

The good news is that I'm learning a lot. Making music is really fun, but audio production requires attention to certain details that I've only just started picking up on.

One reality is that I should keep recordings of multiple takes. It's kind of hard to sing while listening to a monitor as a song is playing - there can be slight delay, which forces the singer to compensate. While everything is....on beat, and mostly at the correct pitch, small deformations can reveal themselves based on how the singer sang the take.

Putting out another call: I'm looking for #musicians using #Linux or #opensource software to create their tunes.

All genres welcome, as long as it's quality!

This is for my podcast Linux For Everyone. To be honest, this stuff is hard to find.

    Help me find it!

The new #kdenlive 19.08 is looking phenomenal!

I never wanted to stop using it in the first place, back when it was still unstable prior to the massive code refactor, and from what I can see so far it looks like I might be able to come back to my favourite #NLE!

The new features and workflows are outstanding. My next video will undoubtedly be edited on here.

Thank you for the amazing work Kdenlive devs. Absolutely fantastic.

We will support the process of gathering evidence used to free someone from ICE custody. We will expose any intimidating and unconstitutional tactics ICE uses to detain immigrants."
