Yo @Xil this is a pic of a .22 short and .22 long rifle. The magnum (not pictured) is a little longer. Another factor is the rimfire is a shoot once and throw the casing away. Center fire cartridges can be reloaded...

Yo @hamsterglue I like the .40 where a lot don't. Nice round for compact frames.

I always consider my handguns as tools used to fight my way to my long guns. The bigger the bullet, the better, for me anyway (.40 min, then .45)

I don't care for 9mm cuz they are Nazi bullets ;-) Besides a .40 is a 10mm (more or less). Bigger is better.

Yo @Xil there are .22 shorts, .22 long rifle and .22 magnum. Powder charges are the difference.

I have taken hogs with a .22 long rifle but would never hunt them with a .22 short. Not enough powder.

.22 are rim fired ammo and I don't consider them good for handguns, only long guns.
