Interesting, yes. However, we should judge the man by his actions, not his words. 😉

Boris Johnson has adopted a Jack Russell Terrier from a rescue centre in Wales.
It just goes to show he can't be all bad. Well, 99.9% bad. -

Hmmm, Cummings doesn't blog very often, but when he does they seem to be book length, and very academic in presentation. -

The thing that has the Tories riled is the threat of deselection for doing anything against the governement. Rumour has it that this ploy is being driven by Cummings. -

I note there are Tories who find Cummings sinister. Many are worried that Cummings wields more power over the government than Cabinet ministers, and he has considerable influence over the Conservative Party. Nobody knows whether he is even a CP member.Makes you think, if Tories consider Cummings is sinister!

It's well understood that big pharma has no incentive to cure diseases: they make more money by developing unique, patentable chemicals rather than using existing (unpatentable) natural compounds & remedies. Also, they seldom seek a *cure* - they make far more money from a lifelong treatment, ideally one with side-effects requiring further treatment.
The software industry is precisely the same - they want to sell you a treatment you pay for every month, not "buy once, problem solved".

Yesterday, my OH was preparing kidney for #Neachdainn, our Scottish Terrier. She left some bits aside, in a Tupper container, to deal with later. They were forgotten about, and sat in the (heated) kitchen overnight. Not knowing the contents I opened the container this morning.
THE SMELL WAS UNBELIEVABLE!
The odour could knock-out a skunk at 100 metres, no problem.

The more common N. American spelling gives a better guide to pronunciation. The actor James Coburn, of Scottish descent, is probably the best known of that name. The WP page you linked to lists famous Cockburns, including the port wine family. The company was bought out several times in recent history, and is now owned by another Portugese family of Scottish descent, the Symingtons.
I don't know why the pronunciation of "ck" was dropped.

I like that idea, and it would be good as an additional tool to see what you have agreed to in the past. However, I would be worried if it was the only tool, as it would be retrospective. Plus, many users might never look at it. -

Absolutely, I can see that danger. Something like the invalid certificate warning given by browsers, perhaps? That requires multiple steps to confirm.I understand people tire of the GDPR inspired cookie pop-ups, but I don't encounter them that often. That might be because I avoid sites that do that, or because I usually have JS disabled. I suppose that makes me a non-typical user.

Famous story in our house. There is also a famous brand (label) of Port called Cockburn. It also has a silent "ck". My OH didn't know about the silent "ck" and asked the shop assistant for "a bottle of Cockburn". After rolling about the floor laughing for 5 minutes the shop assistant got her a bottle of port from the shelf.
