Welsh bowmen were employed, but were ineffective, killing many in the English army, as their arrows fell short. The Scots cavalry advanced & dispersed the bowmen.

The English mounted knights now came under attack, but they couldn't manoeuvre. They broke ranks. Famously the "sma folk" (baggage attendants etc) were mobilised to appear to be reinforcements.

The English King and his bodyguard of 500 knights decided to flee. Morale was destroyed. What was a certain defeat anyway became a rout.

The Scots relishing the outcome of the single combat rushed the English forces and focred them back over the narrow Bannock burn crossing.

However, the difficult terrain (boggy) made it difficult for either side to gain advantage and the battle continued to a second day.

Overnight, the English forces re-crossed the burn, but in the morning were forced back by the Scottish schiltrons.

Battle of Bannockburn
June 23/24th 1314

The decisive battle in the wars of Scottish independence and the one which cemented King Robert's iconic status.

The most famous encounter of the battle began before the troops had engaged. The King was inspecting the Scots' troop formation, without his armour & mounted on a small horse. The English knight Henry de Bohun saw his chance & charged. The King swerved, spun round & cleaved de Bohun's head with his battle axe.

They have, but it doesn't detract from the actuality of Swiss law. What some people had assumed was higher levels of privacy protection, in law, isn't the case.

PM are making the point about the contents still being encrypted, which is true, but it looks to me that mail logging can still be handed over.

The blog post doesn't make it clear to me what PM's current position is while they await the outcome of the ruling.

I've never recommended ProtonMail to anyone, never had the need. Consequently, I've taken their "advertising" at face value. I've never thought to myself: "that can't be right".

I do believe privacy and security is important. I should research this area more, just in case someone asks me in the future.

That would seem to blow a very big hole in ProtonMail's whole raison d'être.

Is this something that has been well understood by people in Switzerland?

The Brexiteers are a huge majority in the Conservative party. They would also sell their grannies if it enabled Brexit to happen.

The Sunday Times article is paywalled, so I will get hold of the cited polling data instead.

It would appear the Sunday Times agrees with me, and they have some polling data to support the conclusion that:

Boris Johnson as Prime Minister will put an end to the UK.

The fourth photo appears to show the woodpecker's tongue. I note that they are primarily ant eaters. Were they eating from the bark surface, as opposed to drilling holes with their beaks?

Oh, anything in particular led you to this decision?

In "normal" light the flower looks dark blue. In the photo (previous post) it has a purple tinge because the sunlight was shining through the petals from behind.

Of course, colour is only ever determined by the type of light hitting the object, and then reflected back to the observer.

I promised a photo of this flower ages ago, but we've been subject to howlin' gales and lashin' rain ever since.
