Welsh bowmen were employed, but were ineffective, killing many in the English army, as their arrows fell short. The Scots cavalry advanced & dispersed the bowmen.
The English mounted knights now came under attack, but they couldn't manoeuvre. They broke ranks. Famously the "sma folk" (baggage attendants etc) were mobilised to appear to be reinforcements.
The English King and his bodyguard of 500 knights decided to flee. Morale was destroyed. What was a certain defeat anyway became a rout.
