@mrjunge @kai This happens to me a lot
A fair chunk of my applications of my economics studies have been evaluating small personal things like this 😂
*naively runs an app's install script, proceeds to watch his #Linux boot images get rewritten for some reason*
hmmm shoulda prayed first
@lnxw48a1 @dirtycommo Aha! I was wondering if it was that they were barely making payroll (+ others, obv).
@zigg Sweet! Do you know if your talk will be recorded?
@davehunt :O I had never heard of an #audiogame before your mention of this! (I was wondering how you were playing a game 😅) I look forward to trying the demo more and showing this to my brother.
I'm feeling much better now and up to going to #work :) I enjoy my #job and don't want to stress out my supervisor 😅
Found it in my #orgmode notes! It isn't Clojure, it's #Scheme (a different #Lisp): https://peertube.mastodon.host/videos/watch/6bdf3ade-efbd-435b-9334-9b10da0cf5cf
Why this didn't come up when I searched that #PeerTube instance for `lisp` or `programming`, which it is tagged as, is beyond me.
#peertube people: Do any of you have a link to a series of talks about what makes #Clojure interesting, on PeerTube? I stumbled across it and cannot find the link now :( #videos #programming
working with linux servers has taught me that the internet is just a bunch of barely working shell scripts yelling at each other at all times
@dirtycommo @lnxw48a1 Something about this feels to me like an interesting but insufficient explanation for this behavior. :/
If you're a programmer who likes the functionality that Docker provides, but you can't stand the bloat, I can't recommend this talk by Liz Rice enough. Liz's "Containers From Scratch" presentation is a classic already. One badass classic for #golang and for hacker culture as well.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fi7uSYlOdc
The takeaway is: You don't really need Docker bloat to do containers.
@lnxw48a1 Huh, I wonder why that is. It seems like my library alone has a decent stream of new books, both particular to that location itself and within the library's network (there's multiple locations in #Sacramento County).
@guerrillarain And don't forget #libraries! Using them, funding them, donating books to them (which can be a form of funding, if the library has a used book store from donated books), and maybe even make some niche libraries for friends/neighbors with https://inventaire.io/welcome
#books #library
I've been digging the #orgmode #Android app "Orgzly" lately, and it's motivated me to now try out #Spacemacs to hopefully use org-mode on the desktop. :) It's way different from the text editors I'm used to, but I'm going through the built-in tutorial, now. #emacs #fdroid

@bthall @lordbowlich ah america, the land where trolls rule the world
@lordbowlich blah I'm messing up all over the case. They do need to respond to each inquiry or request. 😑
@lordbowlich Whoops, I was forgetting bizs can make a general policy statement, not need to reply to each inquiry.
@lordbowlich Yeah, but from a biz perspective I'm worried about privacy trolls emerging as a business-bankrupting force.
I think this will lead to more in-house, dumb IT work so biz people can confidently say that they collect nothing. Large bizs would have yet more of an advantage here over little bizs, due to having more resources for documenting info collection and use.
