If you're a machinist getting paid $15/hr you're a fucking idiot and are better off on Etsy because you're a shit negotiator and should jump on a Peter Pan bus to find somewhere they need machinists. That's another thing: I respect immigrants way more that folks who never leave because at least they were brave enough to pursue a better life and not just expect it.

@mrmcmayhem maybe if we actually pay teachers, nannies, caretakers, caregivers, etc, a thriving living wage we won't get crap. The only reason why my public school K-6 was good is because each teacher had a rich husband. Teachers can't all be subsidized by rich husbands. The numbers don't work. Or only work on ideal suburbs (I grew up in Hawaii) where teaching's a vocation and not a vacation. F'nar.

@mrmcmayhem I do feel like the state should take any and all children who are not being brought up right. Including the children of the poor. Can't afford Princeton and Swiss boarding school: give us your kids!

@mrmcmayhem minimum wage should be $30/he, according to JCD. Does that improve your wage? I guess you just need to move as far away from having a skill set that's been commodified. So, be worth $125/hr. Then convince lots of people to pay you that much.

@mrmcmayhem the responsibility of being a child caretaker is super high but it's not always super hard. It's also not meaningless. And if you fuck up you go to jail. It is worth being paid for, yes. If the family can afford it, by the family. If not, in the case of single parent, the state or government. Plus, even wealthy two parent families shouldn't have to pay for child care or school ever. And children should never go hungry. Just no gender hypocrisy. See what I mean?

@tlhall I saw MiB 1 recently. So good. What I love about it is how normalized the alien life is once their existence is normalized. How how possibly capably we might be able to integrate not only races but actual sentient species!

What if we men actually ever discover that housewife is a milk run gig. What if women never ever learn to actually respect house husbands?
