@pry I tolerate some forms of drama, but there are other kinds that are just ridiculous to watch. Watching ppl clearly full of themselves fight is pretty funny tho.
@policeinchains Perhaps. With some exceptions, I don't usually read interpretations of other authors merely to accurately know where other authors stand. And for one, Nietzsche is probably one of the more difficult to interpret due to his style. The ideas here seem like they could be relevant to parts of my project, which is enough for me.
Sometimes I read the introduction so I get worked up and teased and then I never get to the full course meal. Which is why sometimes I skip the introduction. Reconciling naturalism and teleology has always interested me for the same reason one might be interested in reconciling qualia with the materiality of the brain, but I am aware of the historical dangers of lazily hacking teleology & nature together (*ahemscientificracismahem*). Hope this is tread carefully.
If proframming as a hobby can be this engaging, I imagine programming for wotk purposes must really sap the energy out of it. Tends to be that the best leisure activities also tend to end up being the most soul-crushing forms of work. Almost as if there is an inverse relation. Lol
@Paradox It's within a rectangular room. There are small mats lined up on either of the longer sides of the room, equal space between them, and with a cushion on each. They have a small book with chants that lays behind when one sits on the mat, just im case. The room has what looks like a large vase or bell in the middle. Towards the back there is a Buddah statue, candles/rice paper lamps, incense, and a couple of other items. The room afaict only uses natural lighting.
@pry I do think some of the texts have relevant insights when it comes to praxis, or that tight spot which exists between theory and practice. And also some of the practices have certain benefits (unrelated to new age woo woo shit).
In addition I have always been fixated on negativity as somehow primary or fundamental so I am very receptive to stuff that talks about emptiness, absence, etc. and a lot of eastern traditions do.
@tealturtle At least that's what I got from it. Also a lot of it is ritualistic bodily representation of daoist symbology and thematics and I am missing ritual in my life so that's nice.
