At some point in my life I will be old and wise enough that I clean a place up this nice when it's for me, not just when it's for landlords and successor tenants. -

Tomorrow when all of this is done and there is nothing more I can do about it, I will sleep better, function better at work, fill in my various address updates and do my taxes.
This has been a big dark cloud hanging over me, but I'm super happy with how the new place has turned out, and I have a much more approachable and helpful landlord too.

I didn't allow myself to bring a big stack of boxes into my new home, that's part if why it took time too.
The only boxes now are the ones that were never unpacked in the old home. Everything else I've been forcing myself (by not getting more boxes) to pack, move, unpack.
Most of the stuff in the boxes can probably be discarded if I didn't have a reason to unpack it for two years. But I won't just throw it away unseen. π
Some of it isn't mine either.

All my Stuff is gone from the old place. It is literally unbelievable and I know I will be running in circles double-, triple- and quadruple-checking that statement before I close the door for good.
Now "only" the cleaning left.

@MArtin I don't think I acquired them personally. I moved to this city 2010 the first time, 2017 the second time, and I would not have brought shot glasses over. They have appeared in my home somehow. π€£ -

@Hypolite Petovan Especially hot and humid places like Hong Kong. For a Swede it's supernatural how fast everything rots and rusts in this climate.
I've seen things here I've never seen where I grew up.
My parents are of that generation that believes you have to clean all the time to have a sanitary home. Here it's actually true. Dust works differently in this air.

I dread moving, even though I've done it over 20 times in the last 25 years and I should be good at it by now.
Packing up and cleaning the old home is a task that kind of asymptotically goes toward the finished state. Every piece of effort you resolve reveals more effort behind it.
I try to solve this by amortizing the move over time so that full anxiety doesn't have to hit and I don't have to push myself to do the impossible and finish everything in one day. But because of that asymptote I still end up pulling an all-nighter to meet the deadline.

This is touched upon near the end of the Uplift Saga by David Brin, where the galaxy has basically three separate classes of civilizations that almost never interact because their needs are so different and they don't go to the same places: Oxygen breathers, hydrogen breathers and machines -

Another #HumansAreSpaceOrcs entry
What if there are aliens out there but they subsist on entirely different substances and theyβre just scared as shit of us and our crazy ass hell planet? Once in a while some alien anthropologist type suggests checking out the people on this inhabited planet out towards the galaxyβs edge. The other aliens just look at the naive academic with horror. No!! We do not go to that world. That is where the DEATH BREATHERS live. They recreationally consume poisons and are more or less composed of biological fire. Their atmosphere is made of rocket fuel. We must leave the DEATH BREATHERS in peace. Do not go there. Do not.

It sounds like the overall analysis is that the representation of most countries moved a bit left, but because Germany and France are so dominant and moved so hard right, the total is still a move a bit to the right. -

Nationalist Fidesz in Hungary loses ground and loses their own absolute majority, and that sounds nice, but then you look at who took the most of those votes, and that's TISZA, whose most famous name is a guy who was in Fidesz until this year.
Looking at the party ideology and program, it does look like progress. They want to reduce strongman rule and corruption, improve accountability, improve rule of law, cooperate with EU institutions, etc.
I haven't looked into where PΓ©ter Magyar stands personally, and why he was in Fidesz.
