@Kermode Fantastic review. They are such movie and story geeks, and listening to this just makes me want to watch all the movies and read all the books they're referencing. -

If you want that deep dive into what each episode of #TheExpanse was about, get to know what the real-world people behind the show are like, and you enjoy two friends waffling about a thing they're passionate about for an hour, while going off on tangents *all the time*, this is the show for you.
I know there are many people out there who would have zero patience for this kind of show. But if you're like me and you enjoy that parasocial relationship with people who make cool things, I highly recommend #TyAndThatGuy .
I'm probably going to start from the beginning, make this my goodnight story, and when I'm through their talk about every episode of the whole TV show, I'll enjoy rewatching the TV show with a new appreciation.

Chatham is a huge fan of the show, and a huge fan of Sci-Fi, horror movies, directing, storytelling, obviously acting, and what we get is a deep dive into what made the show and the episode in question tick, what the plot points meant for the greater story, how the backstories of the characters went into their choices, and Ty is there as Wes's guide and our guide. -

"Ty and That Guy" is a conversation between Ty Franck, one half of "James S. A. Corey", and Wes Chatham, who played Amos on "The Expanse", written by said pseudonym.
("I'm That Guy" is a famous and powerful Amos scene)
I think each episode is about a particular episode of the TV show, at least that's the main format. Sometimes it's the two of them, sometimes they invite someone on.
You'd imagine that it's the author talking about their baby with their friend and minion actor, but no, in at least this episode and I imagine all of them, Franck is hanging out and Chatham is the driver.
It's wonderful to see, because however much an actor loves their craft and however much they love their colleagues and crew, a lot of effort goes into creating a thing and then it's often like "ok, I did that thing, whew", maybe they want to see once how it came out or maybe they don't watch it at all. That's probably how I'd be if I did it professionally and had the next job coming up after the thing wrapped. Chatham is not, ahum, that guy.

I was randomly looking at E21 of "Ty and that Guy" because I was searching for some specific topic that was mentioned in *some* episode of it and this one came up when I searched for it.
In the end there was nothing about that topic at all, but it was so good I listened to the whole thing. I've dipped into TatG before, just clips, but this is the first time I gave it a chance and listened to a whole episode, because I was just captivated by the initial conversation and got attached.

Swedish cheesy corporate slogan from the 80s that popped into my mind because someone simply mentioned Canon:
"Kan nΓ₯'n kan Canon"
It's a tongue-twister! Something like "canon-can-canon" for an English speaker. It means idiomatically "If anyone can do it, it's Canon", or more directly "if anyone can, Canon can".

Except for those occasions when they're inexplicably nerfed and get immediately captured. Then they'll later denerf, destroy the town escaping captivity instead, and then they'll tell their captors "ok, now that's done, actually we just want to ask some questions". -

They have an F- in international relations and will gladly enter foreign countries or planets without warning, and then slaughter their defense forces that are trying to deter the sudden invasion.
Then they'll go "actually we're just here to investigate a crime / visit a friend / observe a trial" and victim nation will go "oh alright then, come on in", while their friends and buildings are still on fire.

The League *hates* buildings and just indiscriminately mow them down, with zero efforts to take the fight out of town. π€£

Justice League is objectively bad in multiple aspects, but I'm unironically enjoying it while also cringing. It's fun enough to outweigh it.
All the heroes, but especially Superman, are so incredibly nerfed ... except when they're not.

Also the writing in JLU is far superior, no matter how high or low a level you look.
And the voice acting.

Is the difference between venom and poison strictly the delivery mechanism, but once you have them in a bowl they're the same?
Or can you look at the composition and say like, hmm, yeah, this one would clearly be more effective when injected/ingested?

Caught up on writing a month's worth of meeting minutes that I've been putting off for a key meeting series.
My brain is overheating, but I'm feeling very satisfied and I'm going home with a somewhat cleared conscience. I will sleep well tonight.
