Wow, all technical aspects of JLU were improvements on this one.

I fully understand that language and naming is always full of historical accident, tradition, connotations, path dependence, drift, fully arbitrary and inconsistent categories, yada yada.

I'm not even asking for an explanation, however reasonable or unreasonable, I don't really care. It's gonna be "it's because originally ...", yeah, sure, doesn't matter.

I just think it's funny, and it will never not be funny, that five-spice seasoning lists eight spices in the ingredients.

The person in front of me just used a 1000 HKD bill to pay for a loaf of bread.

I mused a year or more over the phrasing "this train is an additional train" and what it means. Why would I care about which trains are regular or additional?

But the message here provides a tiny bit more context and a hint, and the empty train confirmed my interpretation: What's relevant is that this train originates at this station rather than coming all the way from the end of the line, so it's empty instead of being already full.

Good timing for my flu shot: Just got the note from school that flu season is upon us, several cases recorded in schools in the city and please take precautions, measure temperature, wear mask, etc.

We will start measuring temperature every morning, but as far as other precautions go we never stopped. We're still in neverending covid season.

The reason I didn't take the flu shot earlier was that I was waiting for the company to offer it in the office as they usually do.
