Of course, centrists are many a time privileged people, and therefore they maybe shouldn't be granted such immunity from politics. But I can't imagine someone who starts marching by your side because you harassed them about not doing it.

This is a thing I've been thinking about for a bit, and I'd definitely like comments on how flawed my thoughts are because I can't recognize the flaws on my own.

I don't like when people dunk on centrists. Sometimes it's fair enough, if the centrist is very aware of the political landscape, is politically active, and has decided to take the side of status quo by "not taking a side."

But many times centrists are just ignorant (well, in my experience) and sometimes they just want to avoid conflict and then say they're on nobody's side. I think it's a bit mean to dunk on someone who is actively trying to avoid conflict.

Nvidia is doing lots of great stuff VR performance/quality wise, but also holy hell the open source driver situation is bad. I think I'll get an amd gpu next time, but damn is it annoying to have to pick a company's freedom policy over performance.

"WebRender newsletter #28" – Mozilla Gfx Team Blog https://mozillagfx.wordpress.com/2018/11/02/webrender-newsletter-28/

At first I thought WebRender was basically the same as Edge's independent rendering (i.e moving rendering to a background thread), but based on this post it seems a lot more ambitious actually. Interesting stuff, and kudos to the Firefox folks for opening up on their thought process.

Sorta excited for the warcraft remaster, since I'll finally be able to play through that story.

Still don't like how saturated the graphics are though.

Tfw so much fun stuff to write, but also so much uni stuff to do. The silver lining is that I wouldn't be inspired to do non-uni stuff if I didn't have uni stuff to do, because procrastination is the greatest motivator.

@manchot @oct2pus @vascorsd If it's the same reason as my sway setup, that happens because the blurry programs are running in xwayland and can't handle the wayland hidpi protocol.

@oct2pus @vascorsd I tested out some AUR packages for wayland-compatible firefox, but they didn't seem to work and I couldn't be bothered to investigate further since 200% wasn't *that* bad.

I do use terminal emacs from time to time, I just always have problems with some keystrokes involving control and shift. And I use emacs for latex editing with a pdf preview, so that's one non-terminal feature I sort-of need.

@oct2pus @vascorsd Wayland seems to have a good mechanism for hidpi or something, since gnome and sway both support fractional scaling. Problem is, programs like firefox and emacs don't have proper Wayland support, so at least in my case the wayland requirement is a bit too much.

@lain That doesn't sound that far from 11... I mean, in the schools I went to, the last students to eat would probably eat after 12, because the schools had different "eating shifts" for different grades.

@icefox I'd rather use OpenGL, since one of my goals was minimizing dependencies. That said, I don't think it'd be much work to switch out the backend, as it's contained in two modules with relatively little public-facing API.

I wouldn't try doing such a thing yet though, since the crate is definitely in "every commit changes the api" territory and doesn't have much utility yet.

What do you mean by interoperate with ggez?

Don't think I'm going to make it in time for #openjam2018, but I'll definitely keep on working on my project. It works as a good real-world test for my UI crate. Got this far (about 40% of my original to-do list):
