@dajbelshaw Have you looked at Ubports? Seems like it's still flying the flag for a non-duopoly option. . I like the fact they've put an emphasis on making installation easy.

I'd love to try it but my device has a locked and encrypted bootloader so I'm kind of stuck for now.

I wish with Firefox OS if it had been targeted to run on old phones, rather than newly manufactured Firefox OS devices.

One of the reasons I hate the current mobile phone duopoly is that we're effectively forced to choose between:

1. Company that is secretive and provides a closed ecosystem. Says it respects customers' privacy but we don't have many ways to check.

2. Company that makes its money from data mining and surveillance but which (for now) plays nicely in the world of OSS.

I know I've options with LineageOS and /e/ but they're derivative, not like what we were promised with Firefox OS and Ubuntu Touch

A while ago I saw discussion of a potential ActivityPub-based replacement for EventBrite or even MeetUp.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I would say one of the biggest reasons pixelfed is so well known is because of how much I talk about it. I try to post about it daily across a few accounts.

If you are building a new activitypub project, try to do daily or weekly development updates and keep your project in the minds of as many people you can!
