@obra Up until now, for the past decade or so, I did it by hand for stuff outside $HOME. I mainly needed GNOME, Emacs, Zsh and Git, so there wasn't much to manage.

On my next laptop, I'll use something like NixOS or GuixSD, and have the whole thing managed. Mostly because I'm sick of cleaning up after my own experiments.

I saw two choices: 1) experiment in Docker and VMs, always; 2) manage packages and configs globally. Since I wanted to play with GuixSD, I'll go with the second.

Useless vanity thing, but still.

I wonder if I will hit 4k contributions total in 2019 (on GitHub).

I'm watching a bunch of BSD people having fun, and it is incredible. I feel cheered up just reading the thread.

Dear Fediverse, dear people on @bsd.network, thank you. I can't remember the last time I was casually looking at my social media timeline and felt good about things. I do now, and since I've joined the fediverse, this is a recurring theme.

Well on track for a #Chrysalis 0.1.0 alpha release tomorrow.

Everything on the milestone is done, just waiting for a few things to be merged. It's still far from being even beta, but it's in a much better shape than the previous 0.0.6 release.

Never mind me. I'm just trying to figure out how to bundle a static file with my #Electron #JavaScript app, so that the same code works in both dev and prod.

__static only works in prod, despite all resources I come across suggesting it should work in both.

Whee, new monitor arrived. Loving the new width. Eventually, I'll have to bite the bullet and invest into 4k.

At a previous job, we had 32" 4k monitors, and those were lovely. Fonts so crisp and lovely. Yummy.

(I... don't switch windows often.)

One unexpected issue with switching my terminal to a light color scheme: it's very hard to find it on an overview page now. It used to be the single dark thing, not anymore.

This will teach me to use my "switch to the terminal" keybinding more often.

A'ight, teaser time! Currently on my desk is the #Keyboardio Model01, my primary keyboard. There's an #Atreus, a #Shortcut prototype, a #Splitography, and an #ErgoDox EZ. They're all used daily, for various things.

I have another keyboard incoming, but since it's not here yet, I'll not comment on it for now.

I should write a blog post about my keyboards, and what I use them for. Not sure how interesting it would be to read, but it would be fun to write. I like fun.
