For all TootWorkers who want to verify their Mastodon account on their Keybase profile. It's a little finicky with our setup here since Okta does not forward links properly.

But all you have to do is use the #keybase command-line utility and do:

$ keybase prove toot.thoughtworks.com <your-username>

Then copy the given URL and paste it into a window where this instance is already open and visible. That worked for me.

The fact that FOSStodon is rewriting their CoC and seeking input primarily from patrons is really gross to me. They’re seeking input not from marginalized people, but from those that pay them to host their shit. In fact, I’ve seen that people have decided to increase their patrons of Kev after his post about “snowflakes”. Like I said, the original post shows what kind of discourse they tolerate.

This is bizarre but true: in older (and by that I mean largely pre-1900) English printed alphabets, the character & was printed at the end, and was memorized as a 27th character.

It was recited in the alphabet as "per se and", meaning "'and' by itself". So the end of the alphabet went "X, Y, Z, and per se and."

The phrase "and per se and" eventually got contracted - and is how we got today's name for the symbol: ampersand.
