I have a non-critical ZFS pool on an old Dell R510 I like to keep handy. Occasionally disks die, and I feed it spares from other retired boxes I can scavenge. The controller doesn't allow passthrough so it has to be bodged with a load of raid0 as single disks. It's clunky, but it does work.
Every time I do a replacement I have to go through the dance with mfiutil and battle the controller. It always works out in the end, but it always takes hours...

@kimreece Also, handwriting is still very popular, much more than popular culture would have me believe.

@kimreece I work at a uni and I'm always interested to see how the students work. One in particular caught my eye with this very interesting combination of macbook on a coffee table and an iPad with a tablet with a handwriting app on it. It was seriously cool.

@Eden I don't have any, but wish you a great time in a wonderful city. Nice time of year to be moving, too.

@polychrome It's kind of weird, isn't it? I'm starting to draw a distinction between the 'nte and social media. Social media has a definite culture to it. Sometimes I think it's th worst thing we ever did, if only because we're not evolved to work on that scale.
I like this place because it feels smaller and people can be what they want to be.

One thing I always liked about his film is the complete lack of pretense. It's just great fun. #wearenameless

@drwho I saw it on a family friend's cable setup when I went on holiday to Canada in 1994. I remember it so well. #wearenameless

@mwlucas It reminds me of a few I've tried, but CWM has that *BSD edge, which is a really simple and easy to understand configuration. It's very elegant.

Due to various health problems I did virtually no winter prep for my bikes outside of a full tank of petrol to ward off condensation. Haven't run them since the end of November.
I thought the batteries would be dead but the dual sport had plenty of crank in it. Pulled the stale fuel through the carb in about 6 cranks and then ran. Can't wait to get back on them.

Spent some time playing with OpenAI's GPT-2 neural net, which, delightfully, writes fan fiction and generates very suspect science facts.
