Battery just died on me (from 50% to shutdown without notice), so now I have to run it on AC power.
Sure would be nice if I could put $30 toward a new computer that meets my needs rather than into a new battery for one that barely works for me. :blobshrug:
Anyway I think if I don't see some progress on Patreon subscriber growth, I'm going to put a hold on music and try something else. I have a quantity of stuff scheduled through 2019 equal in value to what people are paying, so I'm set, but I had higher hopes.
I can't keep doing this on a laptop that balks at a 1 second sustain on a slightly complex synth patch.
Culture is maintained and changed by repetition. That's why "household name" companies still advertise.
Every new wave to Mastodon brings at least one "this is too important to CW" person. People are going to keep bringing their bad habits and conceits from other places.
Cede no ground to them until they get why we do how we do. We have a good culture here. Don't let the ones we left ruin it. Change is good. Reversion to mainstream status quo is not.
My laptop is acting like it wants to die. The battery won't charge to 100%. Hard drive is slow. Even if everything is fine technically, it's a 3+ year old laptop with spinning rust, an inadequate CPU, and not enough memory.
One of my Patreon goals is to replace it, but I'd like to do it sooner. The bonus is I can make more cool stuff faster on a better computer. https://www.patreon.com/digitalscofflaw
