I've been persistently peppered with ads for "Atheist Safehouse", and was turned away from it for basically the same reasons you describe (if I recall, Krauss was right up-front-and-centre). I wish I knew a way to tell Facebook I wasn't interested, especially in a way that would alert its algorithms to stop throwing it at everybody who's ever used the word "atheist".
The #BCHA's campaign to get the BC government to make !secular, evidence-based recovery options the default is awesome, and you should sign the petition (especially if you live in BC).
But after reading Bushfield's articles on #CanadianAtheist and in The Tyee, I started to wonder: What are the secular, evidence-based recovery options? I know of SMART Recovery, but are there others? What is their availability like across !Canada? How many have been studied and reviewed in peer-review literature?

Mark A. GibbsHoly shit. I just learned that last week #Barbados had its first freakin' #PRIDE PARADE... *RIGHT* through the heart of Bridgetown starting at Rihanna Drive and ending at the Bay Street Esplanade. Over 150 people turned up (not bad at all for Barbados!), and while there was a lot of hate and vitriol before the parade - especially online - the parade itself was completely peaceful, and a roaring success. 🏳️🌈🇧🇧
@Wolf480pl@rysiek@pesco@webmind@ente people think low voter turnout is caused by voting being "complicated". I think that's patronizing bullshit. It's because whoever you vote for, one of the corporatist white guys wins (and or maybe corporatist white or brown women but ...), so people think why bother? STV fixes this and makes voting much more worthwhile for people who feel represented by neither the "left" nor "right" of the centre-rights corporatist
In response to long-term persistent trolling - particularly on our social media spaces - Canadian Atheist is going implement a set of community standards, and enforce them (which will mean expelling the offenders from our community spaces).
These guidelines are going to drafted with the help of the community over the coming weeks. But because the problem got so bad, we will be taking action according to a temporary zero-tolerance policy in the short term.
