    We tell each other to self host in order to escape the big corps. But when we die, all the self hosted stuff is going to get wiped and history will only remember the archives that got stored by the big corps. And you know how history is written by the winners. Do we need a way to automatically hand over our sites to archive.org or similar? Or send them disc images? Nobody expects to get run over by a car but some of us will, today. I made no plans for this.

    So if you're one of those idiots who badgers us every time there's a tragedy with the "it's usually Muslims, so why don't you dare say so?" bullshit thinking you're the reasonable one... you are not. You are not on the side of evidence or reason.

    Just like a broken clock, one of these days you *may* be "right", but that makes you no different from any religious mystic or prophet foretelling tragedy. You're just a ghoul playing the odds and hoping to cash in when tragedy finally strikes.

    Meanwhile, those of us who *really* care about reason and evidence recognize that Muslims are not the problem in Canada. It's the fools and bigots who *pretend* they care about reason and evidence while ignoring it to harass Muslims who are the problem.

    Just as with mosque shooting, in the immediate aftermath of the van attack people challenged us on why we wouldn't "dare" denounce this as Muslim terrorism. Once again, waiting patiently for the facts has validated our position.

    But *even if it hadn't*, the narrative that any mass tragedy is "obviously Muslims" is demonstrably false - at least in Canada.

    Top massacres in Canada in 21st century, w/ motives & victims:

    1. misogyny* (10)
    2. infidelity (8)
    2. gang-related (8)
    4. anti-immigrant/islamophobia (6)
    5. schizophrenia (5)
    5. criminal shoot-out with RCMP (5)
    5. revenge after break-up (5)

    Note that 3 can be traced to misogyny/toxic masculinity. *At least* 3 to right-wing media/meme consumption. 2 to crime.

    Not even *one* was in the name of Islam. Or carried out by a Muslim. In fact, just the opposite.

    The "it's usually Muslims" claim gets even more ridiculous if you extend the list, either by victims or temporally.
