Considering doing an email newsletter to stay in touch with people who I can’t drag away from Facebook but who still want updates on various projects.

The web suggests I use “tinyletter.com” which looks cool but is Mailchimp, and they are not exactly respectful of privacy.

Any suggestions for a #FOSS, self-hosted alternative? I run my own mail server so maybe a simple distribution list or the like?

I don’t need metrics/etc., just deliverability :)

@MoreHuman I'm working on a companion device for my little desk radio to play music via the aux in when there's nothing good on the radio.

It's fairly simple (just a Raspberry Pi 3 Model A+) but I wanted something that suits the radio, so I'm working on suitable chassis and controls that don't clash with the radio's design.

Took the plunge and ordered a cheap laser cutter from eBay.

Expect to see a lot of posts from me trying to get it working soon.

I oscillate between feeling like I expect too much satisfaction out of my employment and feeling like I spend enough of my life working that I should expect it to be more satisfying 🤣

@cstanhope it’s funny because I know from experience that pursing things just because you think they are cool has good results. It’s just hard to believe when you get out of that cycle for too long.

I might need some smaller/shorter projects to boost myself back up into that orbit...

Realized tonight that perhaps my lack of enthusiasm to make anything stems from the fact that I’ve been talking myself out of working on things that I think are cool, but seem impractical or have no audience behind my own amusement.

I know better than to act that way, but it’s easy to forget when the world mostly encourages capitalism and all its trappings.
