One of my former coworkers was hard into performative masculinity.

Which is annoying, but what was hilarious was how incredibly BAD he was at it

I come in with my floral ties, and colorful socks, and gushy lovey doveiness, and just outdo him at every single “masculine” thing he had forced himself to care about

And I’m like dude you know why you’re so bad at this? Because you HATE it. You just want to be this ultra manly man because that’s what an internet forum told you to do

The only reason I’m better than you at cleaning a carburetor, or welding, or repairing a chainsaw is because I LOVE to do all these things

Your toxic masculinity is getting IN THE WAY of you learning how to do these things, because you think it’s supposed to be in your blood or balls or whatever
