    Toying around with a circuit to add tube distortion to line audio using 12AU7 aka ECC82 tubes. It hadn't occured to me before watching glasslinger's latest video where he restores a 30's mantle radio that one needs to add some kind of current limit to the filament supply. This because the filaments start out at a lower resistance, and without a limit there might be thermal shock and damage over time.. !elektronik

    Spent 2 hours trying to get X11 and xrandr to play nice, to get dual graphics cards + dual monitors to work on my new desktop. In the end I gave up and bought a DisplayPort cable instead, so I can use the internal graphics chip for both screens (VGA+DP vs DVI+HDMI)

    Made some calculations what it would take to provide via a thermal accumulator the heat I currently supply to the basement of my house to keep it from freezing during winter. My logs indicate I use between 1500-2000 kWh per winter for direct electrical heating and the dehumidifier. The amount of heat can be provided by either 20 m³ water kept just below boiling, or 2 m³ NaCl also kept just below boiling. I don't have space for 20 m³, so molten salt it would be. Insulating something at 1600°C such that at most 500 W leaks out would be a challenge, as might finding suitable heaters and temperature probes, and regulating the heat output.. 🤔

    Got the SDR transceiver app working on the #redpitaya together with GNU Radio. Guess it's time to try and set up Vivado on my more powerful desktop machine, for compiling FPGA .bit files
