Please, Americans, if you do nothing else today, then please take action against EARN-IT.

    https://www.noearnitact.org/call/?link_id=0&can_id=bfbae84c7fa9804896ed0481e29757d7&source=email-earn-it-act-vote-this-thursday&email_referrer=email_848204&email_subject=earn-it-act-vote-this-thursday

We discussed it on the show, but it would destroy online privacy, crypto, etc. This is no joke. Please, take action TODAY as it goes up for a vote July 2nd.

If you love Free Software or Privacy, this bill has to die!

On @librelounge sometimes we put on episodes that are outside of what our audience normally thinks about.

Our CyPurr episode was one I think every person in the Free Software community should listen to, but the download numbers for it are 1/4th the amount that we get when we cover a more geeky topic.

For me what differentiates LL from other shows is the "big picture" or moral issues/considerations, so it's sad those don't get more love.

When you think to yourself "Have @cwebber and I been talking three hours in order to talk again for an hour to talk on the podcast for an hour...?"

And then there's the 2-3 hours of editing.

The idea that the podcast is a casual podcast is that it's casual listening. It's not casual to create.

The RMS resignation was inevitable and right, but at the same time very sad.

Things can be right and sad at the same time. We can feel empathy while knowing this was necessary.

For people celebrating, we understand why. For those feeling sad about it, it's okay to feel sad too, but we all knew it had to happen.

I had the opportunity to meet a very smart Mastodon developer recently and was struck by three things:

    1. They're young and expect software look professional and work right out of the box.

    2. They're thoughtful and are as much product managers as engineers.

    3. They think in terms of what user will experience first, and implementation later, but equally competent discussing either.

If this is the next generation of the Free Software community, I couldn't be happier/prouder.

I'm a huge fan of third wave psychology (I sometimes wish I'd persued it as a career), but this article presents a critique of the recent upsurge of "mindfulness" and assumptions it makes.

2600 has once again shown that it has fortitude in the face of adversity in creating a new website showing the addresses of US concentration camps:

    http://concentrationcamps.us/

Their first issue has US White House Phone numbers, and in the 90s, they published the DeCSS source code.

    Respect.

A few months ago, Microsoft decided to collaborate with Google and drop its web engine in favor of Google's.

Earlier this week, Google blocked all ad blockers, and now Microsoft has de-listed UBlock Origin (a powerful ad-blocker). Without real choice, monopolies will dictate what you see and do on the Internet.

Real choice comes with Free/Open Source Software.

I'm editing @librelounge We have an on the ground recorded show that has sub-optimal audio.

I'm wondering about releasing it with a warning about how bad the audio is, because the content is still good.

    Would love opinions! Feedback?
