Being an anonymous cog in the machine is not a good feeling, but unless you make a unique contribution to society, do you really deserve anything more?

I want to make such a contribution, but I have yet to find one that I would enjoy making and other people than me would appreciate.

One thing that annoys me is that you can't test the waters for an idea by explaining it to people. You have to implement several ideas and see which ones stick. That's way too much wasted time and effort.

I think SMBC is right: Being an adult is, in many respects, way easier than being a kid, but no one cares about you anymore, with the notable exception of your mother.

It doesn't matter what you do with your life. You could jump off a bridge or drink yourself to death and the world would go on without you. Only truly exceptional people in exceptional circumstances have a chance of gaining any significant recognition for their work.

I find it very funny that the United States has a president that walks and talks like a president from a comedy film.

    Tilsvarende overskrifter:

"Bor i Tana men insisterer på 4-felts motorvei"

"Bor på Jan Mayen men insisterer på kommunalt svømmebasseng"

@codesections I sometimes use more vertical space in order to increase the readability of my code. For example, in JS, I'll stick things in const declarations when my expressions get too long.

@codesections It's ClojureScript, a version of Clojure that targets JavaScript.

What bugs me about it is that I want to see my closing brackets match up with my opening brackets at the same level of indentation.

I can't check if I got all my brackets closed by visual inspection when they're all piled up at the end.

@philcolbourn Through my job, I've also been exposed to a number of development stacks, so I'm always comparing the merits and flaws of different ones.

@philcolbourn Yes, I've been doing it as a job since 2006, and when I approach a new language, I always try to figure out how I can do real work with it, and do so efficiently.

Lisp syntax is manageable, but why is the default formatting style to pile all the closing brackets together like that? Wouldn't it be better if it looked like the second picture?

Okay, so I'm going to just use ClojureScript without nREPL for now, since editor integrations always seem to be a pain with Lisps.

Yeah, so I'm walking 4.7 km every morning now. My boss looked at me in disbelief when I told him. Honestly though, it barely takes me 50 minutes, which is only twice as long as riding the bus. All the stops and traffic congestion along the way eats up much of the imagined time advantage.
