Again and again it is shown - putting your data at US cloud services is a #compliance and #security risk.

This @exxonmobile@twitter.com chart from 1982 predicted that in 2019 our atmospheric CO2 level would reach about 415 parts per million, raising the global temperature roughly 0.9 degrees C.
Update: The world crossed the 415 ppm threshold this week and broke 0.9 degrees C in 2017 1/

I will be taking submissions over e-mail at first (I do not expect a lot to come quickly).
If you are a server owner, and you have:
1) A server policy against racism, sexism and transphobia
2) Daily database backups
3) At least one other person with emergency access to server infrastructure
4) Commit to giving users at least 3 months advance warning before closing down your server
E-mail hello@joinmastodon.org with the subject "Server submission". I'll try to figure out the blurb/category
@boud Ah. Well, yes, and thank you for noticing my posts on progress and social activism. :)
Yes, the topic of abuse in the Catholic church, unfortunately, has a very long and deplorable history.
Indeed, it is good that you have added your voice to the many who are pursuing truth and justice on the matter.
I hope that the perpetrators of this horrible scandal will finally be held properly accountable by the law, and that it will come to a swift end soon.
Uber stock price slides again. Good.
This is an unethical company that has never earned a profit, who exploits contingent workers and spies on its competitors and mobile app users. As such, they do not deserve prosperity. They have not earned it.

@InvaderXan That's really cool!
I like how Duck Duck Go gives websites a grade for their privacy. sunbeam.city gets a B+, apparently.
@boud @poujolrost Why are you sending me this message about abuse by Catholic priests???
@thurloat yay! Have fun! 🙂
@carl @thurloat Nice. I just learned something new as well. Thank you! 😀
For example, I mostly use Libreoffice and Firefox (both GTK). I also use Konsole (which I love, but again, you can use any terminal emulator), VSCodium, Nextcloud, some cross-platform chat apps, and occasionally KWrite and Dolphin.
Most of the time, I only use a web browser or two, Konsole, and maybe VSCodium.
I should also mention that KDE applications are quite intuitive. You'll become familiar with them in no time. 🙂
@thurloat Yah. No need to worry about those.
The Qt/KDE applications are great but you can use any applications you want to, and GTK integration in KDE is fantastic now -- one wouldn't be able to tell that a GTK program wasn't Qt-native unless, perhaps, they had a very keen eye.
@thurloat KDE Plasma is the jam! It's stable, beautiful, and fast. It's memory footprint is actually even lower than that of xfce.
#Fedora #KDE spin is my favourite implementation of Plasma, though I'm sure a stock install on any solid distro would be on par with it (it's very close to stock).
What do the Xinjiang police want to know when they check your phone? Well, if you've been abroad for "too long" they check for:
- WhatsApp, Viber, or Telegram
- other “unusual" software
- VPN usage
- “harmful URLs" in your browsing history

We can all gain strength and inspiration from the courage of "tank man."
