@marsxyz That assumes identification as cryptographic signature of a transaction, not identification through presentation and verification.

A general standard I keep to in online spaces is that I speak to people on here as I would if I were face to face. As the old saying goes, if you want respect, give it.
Even after all these years online, it is still remarkable to me how people will come at you like straight up assholes, and expect to be humored.
If you have a disagreement with me, that's fine. I'm not always right.
But don't come at me like a dickhead because that undercuts everything else your going to say.

This tech is still so extremely cool to me. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OLPC_XO#Display
The OLPC-XO 1.0 had a specialized LCD display which could act in a 200dpi e-paper like monochrome mode if you turned off the backlight, or it could use a crazy diffraction grating with the backlight to provide one color per pixel to work as a color display. I so very wish that this had caught on more, especially with modern LCD/plastics tech. Color mode wouldn't be very sharp, but you could use it in bright sunlight.

Personal ID on a blockchain is a terrible idea.
Think about it: You give everybody who runs a node a copy of every ID on the blockchain.
That lowers the bar to identity theft to next to nothing.
How the hell is this a good idea?

@drwho when all you have is a blockchain, everything looks like a transaction.
that last bit, "everything looks like a transaction", there's something there...

"Casual" is not an insult.
There are people who do certain things just because they like them, and not because they live and breathe them.
You don't have to be a comic book nerd to enjoy comics.
You don't have to be a speedrunner to enjoy video games.
You don't have to be an otaku to like anime.
FIJAGDH - Fandom is just a goddamn hobby.

Kids are callin' it Crazy Brain. He set a dumpster on fire behind an IHOP and huffed the fumes until he thought he was bein' chased by Jean-Claude Van Damme ridin' a giant pug.

@TheGibson I don't think we'll ever see the same kind of rebellious rock that was around in the 70's, 80's or 90's anymore. We're oversaturated with music and news: there's just no space anymore for the message of rebellion to get through.
That's not to say it's not still there in our local scenes, but it will be drowned out by the dross.

Okay, if you ever feel bad about having screwed up your programming, ask any programmer you really respect what their last bug was, and I guarantee it'll be a null check or an equals check accidentally flipped to not-equals. The more experienced you are in this business, the dumber the bugs seem to get.
