So #Mozillians..
I see you. 👋
There has been a new, obvious, and continuing flow of your lovely faces in the last 14 days.
Was it DWebSummit & tl;dr that drove you to take action or perhaps something else?
Keep testing instances. Spin up your own if you're game. Ping me if you wish to pick my brain.
Us early adopters felt quite lonely until recently. A warm personal WELCOME to Mastodon!
I'd love a community-driven Twitter replacement, but many fizz out. Mastodon may have hit a userbase tipping point, and I'm curious to see how its social and technological issues and limitations are addressed.
How better to embrace a community platform than by joining and contributing to a co-op instance? Thanks for welcoming me aboard.
I'm interested in most things (inc. #politics #philosophy #tv #music #hiking #commodore #c64).
Had a good chat with @Chocobozzz about PeerTube and Pixelfed video support. Glad to announce that :pixelfed: will support video from mastodon, misskey, peertube and pleroma!
Signal doesn't have a webapp, so that won't work. Don't know about iMessage
Switched to Franz (which has gone open source) from Rambox (which has been deprecated in favour of closed source) as a container and notifier for always-open #webapps: https://meetfranz.com
Here's some useful recipes for apps not included by default:

i'm realizing why i love this place so damn much
it's exactly like the atmosphere of radical openness and affirmation i've always tried to cultivate in every space i get to be a part of, even on a one on one basis. it's home!!
it's okay to not be comfortable yet, or even ever. set the boundaries you need, but know that acceptance, love, and affirmation will be there for you if/when you're ready.
if you're not comfortable in public you better know i'm here for y'all (insofar as i can be!!)
people with 200k twitter followers anxiously mocking this site is actually pretty funny
Is it just me who doesn't want this place to be full of celebs and brands? I don't follow them myself, but I don't want my timeline to just be full of people boosting the latest utterance from a Famous Person.
I like it because it's just full of regular people doing interesting things, rather than politicians and celebrities and footballers broadcasting to their huge "following".
I don't know what will happen if Masto gets full of the great and the good.
Anyways, what should I buy myself for my upcoming birthday? A) No Man's Sky or B) a RaspberryPi Kit
Hello, and pardon me while I figure all of this out! (´・_・`)
I'm Lindsay from the Philadelphia area.
I'm a freelance graphic designer and writer, mostly about food and film. (Both my design and my writing. Go fig!)
Apologies in advance for any mistakes I make here and Loomio. It's a new platform and I mean well!
#Introduction #SocialCoop
I'm done reading cooperativists shitting on the work of programmers and other nerds ignoring that the much maligned and stereotyped nerd that helped to create the fucking surveillance state just isn't present here.
Zuckerberg isn't here, free software programmers aren't rich bastards, and I'm fucking quitting and never trying again if this ignorant and bigoted unsubtlety continues.
Maybe quit shitting on people who are trying to work to free everybody.
FFS
If I want to ditch Amazon, there are dozens of guides to alternative services on the net. Is there a similar guide for switching to cooperative businesses in your daily life? I'm not turning anything up on a search of the googlebox.
have you been to this arcade? http://novelty-automation.com/
What is the meaning of life? The answer is 5000 years old: it originates from the Proto-Indo-European word ‘*lip’ meaning, ‘to remain, persevere and continue’. The word was adopted into Old English as ‘līf’ about 1500 years ago, which also meant 'body' (like its Germanic predecessor).
In Middle English, ‘life’ began to mean not only the living organism itself, but the cause or source of living: ‘life’ became a possession taken away by death.

@huslage you should do an #introduction post
Some twitter v. Mastodon tips for all of the lovely new tooters:
When you like a tweet on twitter, a swarm of AIs spin into action, analysing every aspect of the tweet and trying so desperately to find the matching tweet to show you next that will keep you scrolling, lest their masters decommission them in favor of a new version.
When you fave a toot on Mastodon, there aren't any AIs; you just made another human being across the world feel nice.
Wow took off from Masto for a couple of days and somebody hit the "turbo" button. Is this what the kids call "lit"?
@talialavin mostly what I'm doing now tbh
@talialavin i've been wanting to start a developer coop for years
