Anyone know much about #guifi or other free wireless #meshnet projects? I am trying to develop one in my county, possibly through a similar hybrid approach with our Port providing the fiber backbone.

Following up on my earlier comments re: constructive journalism, instead of mirroring more news accounts to social.coop, I'm going to create a "constructive journalism" handle here on social.coop to curate some selected solution-focused stories from multiple sources (Positive News, New Internationalist, etc.) I'm expecting 3-5 toots a week.

The idea of building the airport got droped earlier this year.
Meanwhile the activists have build an alternative way of life, disconnected to obeying to goverment force. They build infrastructure, which is together with it's people now under attack by ~2500 cops

#Pleroma was pretty easy to install once I got Elixir up to date. Nice to see an alternative social media server w/ full ActivityPub support. Even lets you use the Mastodon web frontend. Really a nice example of what true openness and interoperability in social media means. ❤️

Anyone got an online speedtest they'd recommend? Preferably FOSS (preferably-er GPL3) and HTML5/JS.

Working on a torrent settings calculator thing for fun and would like to refer users to an A+ speedtest rather than Netflix's fast.com or speedtest.net.

The feed algorithm I want: threaded conversations, most recent post from each person I follow at top of feed, all others chronological.

If you want diverse outputs you need diverse inputs. Otherwise you are just manipulating the data.

@BeechMtn This is such a great feel, when you hang out on Mastodon, your mind is constantly finding new ways to get away from the beasts, and it feels so LIBERATING!

But anyway, what Google services you're using most?

- For web search, try DuckDuckGo
- For Docs/Sheets, try to find an EtherPad/EtherCalc instance (I use FramaSoft's services, but there may be French only instructions, be warned)
- For Drive, install your own NextCloud

Maybe that's a good start :)
