My weight loss after the gastric bypass surgery had almost stopped, and I wasn't at my target weight yet, and I just couldn't find the strength to eat even less than I was already doing.

ADHD medications were the missing piece. I turn into a food nazi when I take them.

If I take too much, I get borderline OCD and insist on ridiculous levels of orderliness.

The basics, like orderliness and portion control, seem to kick in at lower doses than the motivation to endure hard work.

Looks like I did a really thorough job of blocking all the daylight leaking in from the windows in the bedroom. It was waking me up too early. Well see how it goes tonight.

When I take too much of my medication, I basically go from having ADHD to having OCD, and become a complete nazi about everything.

Oh, and did I mention that I haven't had oatmeal for breakfast for a long time, and that having that instead of my usual breakfast was a Bright Idea®? I have a lot of those when I'm off my AdHD meds.

I have ADHD, and every morning, I receive a free sample of Being Off My Meds®.

Just made coffee and oatmeal in the kitchen and, while I did wash the pot and put it away, I left behind:

    - Bag of oatmeal
    - Measuring cup
    - Cup of water
    - Digital scale

I usually drink the coffee first, but in the middle of my coffee, I started eating the oatmeal because I forgot I was drinking the coffee. Startled by this, I switched back to the coffee, but rushed it and spilled some on my shirt.

The report card from 1992 also states that I had some trouble placing the letters j, g and y below the other letters. I have a sneaking suspicion that I was stubborn about this because the MS-DOS font doesn't push them very far down due to space constraints, and I thought it looked fine.

While cleaning up my mess from years of ADHD, I came across much older papers than I was aware of having. The oldest one is a report card from April 1, 1992.

"Mathematics: Addition/subtraction is fine. Not especially motivated."

"PE: Enjoys the pool. Doesn't always hear the whistle. Better at dressing now."

"Order: Brings many items. Messy desk."

"Conduct: Mostly good. Speaks loudly. Cussing."

    "Homework: Sloppy."

Just crunched some numbers for my personal finances. Apparently, it costs 1400 dollars / 1230 euros per year to own my cat. That includes cat food, cat litter, cat toys and vet bills, but not cat furniture. I haven't needed to replace any of the furniture yet, so I don't know what the annual cost for that is yet.

I think he's my single biggest expense outside of my debts, and all he does is poop, moult and eat. 😅

I'm thinking of designing a little interactive web test that can be used to check your concentration, organisation, short term memory and patience levels. It would basically be like a sort of game, and it's always trying to trick you, and the specifics of each task change randomly, so you can never use rote memorisation or muscle memory to get better. Also, you might get a subtask in the middle of a bigger task, etc.

One of the signs that the ADHD medications aren't working is that I have constant little interruptions in my workflow, and after work, that I spend more time on Mastodon, because my head is full of thoughts and I'm not motivated to do anything.

I think the effect of the Vyvanse is weakening. I've suspected for a long time that my body is unusually good at figuring out how to break down medications or otherwise neutralise medications.

The effect of Ritalin also weakened in a matter of days and I had to use stronger and stronger doses.

Not sure if there's a level where it just stabilises, or if I'm going to have to rotate medications constantly.

The most interesting thing about what I just said about Vyvanse is that I haven't actually taken it today, but my head feels different somehow. I think my brain is rewiring itself? I can't explain these changes otherwise.

Yeah, the Vyvanse is definitely doing more than just giving me energy and determination. I tried playing the piano on Ritalin, which I was trying out a prescription for earlier, and noticed that the tedium of practice was easier to endure.

Yesterday night and this morning I tried playing the piano again, for the first time on Vyvanse, and it seems that it improves left/right hand independence and the general rate of learning. I'm making fewer mistakes.

@byllgrim Let's call it by its other name: It looks messy.

And since I started taking the meds, messes bother me.

@werekat Now, I don't know what sizes you use. They do seem to specialise in the larger sizes. I'm a pretty big and tall guy.

But you may have more luck at the shoe shop I went to some time ago:
