    Valve: open sources "GameNetworkingSockets" to help developers with networking, Steam not required!

    What's in it?

    * Connection-oriented protocol.

    *Mix of reliable / unreliable messages.

    * Messages can be larger than underlying MTU, the protocol performs fragmentation and reassembly.

    * Bandwidth estimation based on TFP-friendly rate control

    * Encryption.

    * Tools for simulating loss and detailed stats measurement.

    Look, Munich: city of Barcelona kicks out Micro$oft in favor of Linux and open source.

    The Linux distro to be used may be Ubuntu as the City is already running a pilot project of 1000 Ubuntu-based desktops.

    Outlook mail client and Exchange Server will be replaced with Open-Xchange meanwhile Firefox and LibreOffice will take the place of Internet Explorer and M$ Office.

    League Of Legends is now Flatpak'd to play on Linux!

    Can get really tiring telling new comers / common users to make sure they have all dependencies etc. installed for Wine.. and then it may still not work on their particular system for other reasons.

    Flatpak and Snaps are going to solve the whole "configuring Wine" drama on Linux once and for all.

    Starcraft 2 possibly next?

    SiFive are on a path towards making libre RiscV CPUs.

    RISC-V is an open, free ISA enabling a new era of processor innovation through OPEN standard collaboration.

    Naturally then, these are coming with libre firmware. Rumor has it they'll be available late 2018. These should be both more libre than libreboot devices (since the hardware is o/s as well) and faster (64-bit, multicore).

    System76 will DISABLE Intel Management Engine on all of their laptops.

    System76 is an American computer reseller specializing in the sale of Linux notebooks, desktops, servers.

    They are using ME cleaner with -S on all systems where possible - HAP bit will be set AND code removed. All systems will then be tested thoroughly.

    Intel's ME is suspected to work as a backdoor access to all computers running it.

    Bryan Lunduke / Linux community.

    "It was reported that Google specifically blocked an Android application, from the Google Play Store, that showed people voting locations in Catalonia (during their independence vote).

    Why would Google (or any other co.) want to make it hard for people to vote on any issue? Could this happen anywhere? Deeply troubling."
