@lordbowlich I'm somewhat torn. I am keenly interested this stuff! I want to know the dark stuff coming down the tubes. But I don't need it blowing back into my professional life or any kind of organizing I do.

One of the more irritating things is when someone dogs on others "how could a good person ever follow X on social media", as a moral statement.

Just because I might "follow" Nazi Nate doesn't mean I like, agree, or even broadly relate positively to NN. But it can be interesting and useful to see what others think- what's in the water, as it were.

    Seriously obnoxious expectation.

@bootjack @maloki they are looking to automate all of these jobs. and it penalizes peeing, taking a rest.

it kills the dignity of people who want to contribute.

    > the ancient world is a different planet.

this is pretty much the canonical thing to remember about any time prior to, say, 1700 CE. And it just gets more alien as you roll back in time.

on a fairly regular basis, drivers behave threateningly towards me, on bike or walking.

well, happened again. my life got threatened. this time, I was crossing the street with my kid on my shoulder. car saw me, slowed down, then, because I wasn't running across the (crosswalk), sped up, and swerved to miss me.

elderly white couple, bmw. #Seattle, Lower Queen Anne.

I am tired of having violence threatened against me by car drivers.

I’ve concluded that it’s impossible to mix presentation and content without being ass at both. Everything that tries to marry them is a maelstrom of suck. Traditional PHP, Word, and HTML font tags are good examples of this. In my experience, the only systems that are good at both content and presentation religiously separate them and combine them later, like web templates, Scrivener and Markdown, and CSS. Once presentation becomes part of the content, it always, *always* goes to hell.

If you have a .org domain name: go renew it now. For the full 10 years.

Registration rights for .org were just bought by a private equity firm. And as part of that contract, the price caps were removed.

Anything in .org will get much more expensive, soon.

A ten year renewal will cost you a bit over a hundred bucks. Which is probably less than one year will cost you in the very near future.

to be clear cars in general are fucked, I don't even know how to drive, and towns should just have like a truck library where you go get one if you need to haul manure or something
