imagine an internet that was ran like a utility. one where it was the norm to run a little box server at your home that you run your services on (email, mastodon, file storage, etc), and there was a whole industry of unionized repair people who would come to your house and fix up your custom home server to make sure it stays safe and is working to your needs

it took me over 35 years, but i think i'm finally figuring out that what this life is about is:
* finding a home where i feel safe to be myself, and have space to relax and work on small projects
* finding work that isn't too taxing, covers bills and food, and has at least a neutral impact on society
* having community that cares about me

i can't really ask for more than that. just working toward that is enough of a life mission

just saw someone panhandling, but instead of a collection jar their sign just listed a GoFundMe. not trying to shame them. just perpetually horrified by the society we live in that made this possible

the year is 2020 and flavor is illegal. flavor hackers work in secret to return lost flavors to those who can afford it. those that hunt them go by the name Bland Runner
