Any suggestions for day trip #hiking in #Maui #Hawaii in January? My wife is not going to want to actually camp.
I suspect we will find enough hiking to not go #cycling, but I suppose I will take cycling suggestions too. -

I'm listening to it again and it's not just the vocals. I think I might appreciate it more in the winter, on a long bike ride.
In the winter I love me some atmospheric black, but it's completely dropped out of my charts: https://www.last.fm/user/DouglasAWh/listening-report/week
black metal was the only metal genre to crack my top 5 last year: https://www.last.fm/user/DouglasAWh/listening-report/year
#doom, #power, and #progressive all in there, but no metal since the week of June 14. Some sort of #metal is likely to make it back on the charts after this week though. We shall see!
Of course, if we looked at track length, metal would undoubtedly be higher on the list.
Plus, I don't scrobble all the Open Metalcast I listen to while on my bike rides. I found the pausing and skipping around shows to cause things to be scrobbled multiple times, but my rides are longer now. Maybe I could give scrobbling those a shot again...not that that would tell me much about what I was listening to on the shows, but it would increase the metal tag. -

it's not bad, it's just kinda an un-earthshattering HD release. It's not Iris or Palimpsests is all I'm saying. I think the fact that it's only three standard-length tracks and there wasn't a June release at all probably is the main source of disappointment. I did email the guy a few days ago (before the release) and ask if everything was ok since he normally puts out a release every month and he said he's busy moving across the country and there's a lot of releases planned. @craigmaloney I know you are a subscriber, but on first pass, wouldn't say https://hypnoticdirgerecords.bandcamp.com/album/from-both-our-hands-2 is one of my favorite releases from HD In conversation from nu.federati.net permalink Attachments

This one has some definite Tool influence, but also shades of Diablo Swing Orchesta: https://fallencycle.bandcamp.com/album/babalon-dreams-reflections In conversation from nu.federati.net permalink Attachments

yeah, so this one definitely has some hip hop: https://fallencycle.bandcamp.com/album/subqtaneous-some-still-despair-in-a-prozac-nation
And then another one is just a radio show. Google seems to think not all of the albums are CC, but yeah, that one album is good.In conversation from nu.federati.net permalink Attachments

@craigmaloney the label itself may be experimental and have some underground hip hop, but not I'm not hearing either of those so far on this very good release: https://fallencycle.bandcamp.com/album/hoodooengine-compilation In conversation from nu.federati.net permalink Attachments

I'm not a betting man, but I feel pretty confident most of my harebrained schemes happen when Wendy is on call.
Here's one: three centuries in three days over Labor Day weekend. These would be slow rides, but I want to see how the body and bike hold up.
Seems a lot less harebrained when you consider my plan is a century a day on the way to NO LA.
It would be less miles to go to headwaters, but more planning as far as stops and a place to sleep.
I have a 145k on Oct 6, so I'd want to spread it out from there.
If I can find someone to go with me, maybe the St. Cloud down and back makes more sense, but the 100x3 I can do by myself and can come back and help feed the cats and such.
In any case, if you'd like to join for part of the ride, let me know. Again, these will be slow rides. If you really want to make sure I go slow, plan to ride with me on Day 3, lol.In conversation from nu.federati.net permalink -

Ska seems to like wordplay more than any other genre. Why is this? for example: https://skainhead.bandcamp.com/
I assume that the name being short and ending in a vowel helps a lot...In conversation from nu.federati.net permalink Attachments
