@LinuxWalt (@lnxw48a1) {3EB165E0-5BB1-45D2-9E7D-93B31821F864} yeah, I knew there were some Louisianans who claimed to speak French, but all of them I met IRL where actually more fluent in English than French. Granted they were all at one Libertarian National Convention or another, so there is certainly a bias there.
The first reading of the day depicts a critical moment in the lives of the Israelites. Faced with a dire situation, they held the belief that the mere presence of the Ark of the Covenant could guarantee victory in battle. Unfortunately, their misguided confidence in a sacred object, rather than a genuine relationship with God, ultimately resulted in defeat. This defeat led to the Philistines seizing the Ark.
The narrative serves as a powerful reminder that authentic faith and obedience should take precedence over reliance on symbols or rituals. It highlights the importance of a true connection with God, emphasizing that mere symbols cannot replace the significance of genuine devotion and adherence to divine commands.
In the gospel we witness Jesus’ encounter with a leper. Instead of shunning the man, Jesus is moved with compassion and reaches out to heal him. This act challenges societal norms, highlighting Jesus’ willingness to touch the untouchable and demonstrate the transformative power of God’s love.
The healing not only restores the leper physically but also socially, allowing him to reintegrate into the community. Both the readings invite us to have authentic faith and to go beyond superficial practices. Genuine connection with God involves more than external symbols; it requires a heart surrendered in faith and a compassionate outreach to those in need.
@Hypolite Petovan as, to my knowledge, you are the only French speaker on my friends list, and the only native French speaker I know living in the States, do you think my position on French in the US is accurate, or am I behaving like a typical Xenophobic American?
I've lived in 8 different states and traveled all across the U.S.A. One thing that surprises me in this article is how high the use of #French is in the country. 7th most spoken at 1.7 million speakers.
@baptist_joshua_on_youtube is he one of your neighbors or do you "Know" him on the internet. Regardless my daughters have tried to give our bunny carrots and she doesn't like them either. Her favorite food is dandelions. Nothing else will she stop what she's doing to eat. If you leave left over salad she'll eat the lettuce but that's about it. And she's really finicky about her pellets too, only liking the more expensive "show hutch" variety from Kent. She would rather not eat for days than eat cheap food.
Comparing domesticated rabbits to rabbits in the wild is pretty unworthy. Rabbits, particularly show rabbits like Oreo, have been bred so specifically that all of the natural stuff doesn't exist anymore.
@ミ★ Confederate Space Force ★彡 one of the things i really dislike about the web these days is how many websites will through an error automatically saying "we only work with chrome [and sometimes Firefox] instead of just letting me try it anyway and make the decision myself whether Seamonkey works. On my old PC I had a screen shot saved of an old error message from Facebook saying "we are sorry but we aren't cool enough to support your browser" (that was on elinks, or it may been one of the other terminal based text only browsers for GNU/Linux).
I'm fine with the warning it it gave me an option to "try anyway" or something similar.
!Friendica Support I don't have any idea how to help figure it out, but I had a pinned post that seems to have slowly detreated. First the link preview in the post disappeared, several months ago, I tried editing it to an archive link, and it did not repopulate the preview image. Then some of the comments started disappearing, I hadn't worried too much as I thought maybe the original commentors deleted their comments, (or their accounts, etc.) and today I notice it is gone. First I thought it just got unpinned, however, I'm fairly certain that I starred it too, and I just went through the 5 pages of starred posts I've saved and its not there either. What's up with that? !Libranet Support
@Steffen K9 🐰 word. I did clear my default browser cache and it seems to be working for now. Still weird, especially with it working in the morning but not the evening. I work from home some I'm on the same network all day. I wonder if it could be a time-out thing with there being more users on the local network when my neighbors are streaming t.v. during primetime.
