I would block fewer pleroma instances if it were easier to figure out who the admins are, and whether or not the problematic individuals are also admins. As things stand now, if there’s no CoC, I have to err on the side of instance blocking because it’s too much work to figure out wtf the instance’s deal is.
What I see happening with that instance is pretty much a carbon copy of what happens in the greater FOSS community: someone with power is finally publicly revealed to be a bigot, and everyone involved in the project just shrugs and remains ignorant (by choice or by privilege). There’s blowback for a bit and oppressed people are harmed so they leave and/or cut off contact, and the status quo remains unchanged.
Until privileged tech folk stop coddling fash tech folk, nothing will change.
in the US, you can text HOME to 741741 and someone gets back to you. it’s all text so it’s easier to be private if you aren’t able to speak freely or are having trouble verbalizing. https://www.crisistextline.org
friendly reminder that September’s Labor Day exists because a US president was afraid that the real Labor Day (International Workers Day) on May 1 would give the working class too much power given the State’s history of violence against workers. (That’s paraphrased, of course.)
a defense contractor was housing babies and children in a phoenix office building for at least 3 weeks. the story was discovered because a concerned neighbor tipped off journalist Aura Bogado.
take whatever money you're giving to gargron and put it towards your favorite instances' patreon/support funds (after all, these are the folks keeping m.s's load down, AND the whole reason joinmastodon.org exists, AND the whole reason mastodon as a whole is so successful), or give those dollars directly to your marginalized fediverse frens who are struggling right now.

you know when you're witnessing an accident and all time stands still, and you're frozen like a deer in headlights?
that.
taking children away from their families is something the U.S. excels at. imprisoning or enslaving children & families for not being WASP enough is also something the U.S. excels at.
there is no reforming a country or government founded on this much blood and hatred.
there is no reforming a country where the law is more important than life.
a major Mediterranean diet study that everyone loves to quote has been retracted.
it turns out the study wasn't quite as random as they claimed. and even when accounting for this error and bias, people following a Mediterranean diet did have some health benefits, but these benefits were not caused by the diet itself.

a reminder of something you probably already know and have heard a thousand times:
the concept of "selling your body," as bigots like to refer to the profession of sex work, is not unique to sex work. anyone who works is selling their body. selling their time, intellect, strength, looks, feelings, physical health, and/or mental health.
someone on here a few months back recommended a free language learning org. they refused all corporate sponsorship and was dedicated to free accessible language learning, and seemed to teach differently than other methods i'd used. i went through a bunch of their arabic lessons on youtube (but I remember you could download the lessons too). and i can't remember the name of the org. searching isn't helping. i lost my bookmarks in The Great Phone Crash of 2018.
