@tom whenever a new *macOS* update comes out, you mean. Despite having access to macOS betas in advance, the amount of frustrating work required to support an upgrade is frankly absurd. And Apple never tells us exactly when they're gonna ship it.
We have zero problems with Windows updates. None. But support for new Windows features lags because we spend all our time implementing dumb macOS changes.
@cwebber wow, this is a thorough and lucid explanation of the limitations of what we have now, and exactly how ocap can address the problems. I'm sorry i can't give concrete recommendations, but this is really good to read.
Going to Neukölln to listen to a woman perform music on an amplified loom. Should be wild.
Hey @ernie , why do you publish an article asking readers to start a blog, but when I try to subscribe to Tedium I can't find an RSS feed?
(I eventually found it at https://tedium.co/rss, but that apparently isn't linked anywhere. Maybe it should go in the homepage metadata?)
Keep up the great writing, nonetheless!
New fashion style for 2019 is "Business Tactical". Someone invent it for me.
Proud to have contributed to @masu 's new album. (I play on a couple songs and did the mastering.) I think it's her strongest and most cohesive album to date.
'The Most Unwanted Song' by Soldier was made by asking people what they liked least in music, and then composing a song with all of those elements. So it features a soprano rapping about cowboys and a children's choir imploring you to shop at Walmart.
I imagine that everyone involved in this piece had an incredible amount of fun. You can hear it in the performance.
@mikegerwitz Ubuntu was designed as a user-friendly, polished OS, because no free distro was even remotely close to that. And they did it for profit.
They succeeded by focusing on what users want. Which includes things that free software has failed to provide. Like Minecraft and Spotify.
Ubuntu developers have given back to the free software world in code and design. Ubuntu has brought Linux to an increasing number of users. And it puts its users first instead of politics.
In other news, I set up the pre-order for the limited edition cassette of my new drone music album. (The cassette includes a download, which is a bit more ergonomic). It's coming out on Friday. Aaaiiee! I'm excited to share it with you. #music #creativetoots #mastomusic
A buddy of mine is a geeky beer brewer and he helped brew some ancient beer and mead recipes.

In further proof that we live in a cyberpunk future already, 113 GWh of electricity have "gone missing" in Kosovo/Serbia, and as a result all the wall clocks in continental Europe are six minutes behind.

With a VPN you can visit all kinds of evil illegal sites like The Pirate Bay or Project Gutenberg.
When I read about the history of electronic #drone #music, the names that come up often are Eliane Radigue, Suzanne Ciani, Laurie Spiegel, Delia Derbyshire, and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith. Now I've just learned about Maryanne Amacher.
If it hasn't been done already, someone should investigate and interpret a feminine/feminist history of the genre of electronic drone music. There seems to be something there.
If you see a person creating art as a means to enrich the world, maybe don't critique them because their tools are not open source/libre enough, or the art they make isn't copyleft enough.
Make your own art with those tools and those licenses if that's your thing. Nobody's stopping you.
Party is now officially PANTS OPTIONAL.
I'm lucky that I have an employer whose stated values and goals are aligned with my own, but it still requires me to live in a certain place and interact with computers every day and like... Sometimes I feel like I just wanna spend a year learning how to grow potatoes instead.
@djsundog Merry Steely Dan mas.
