Officially going back to work with a new company on August 6th. It was a short, intense job search, and I wish I didn’t have to do it, but I’m glad it’s over!

@wxcafe @carcinopithecus Okay, “Social democracy” wasn’t the right term for me to use then! Either way, the vibe I get from Maciej is that he believes in government, social programs, regulation, and lots of other stuff that’s compatible with a socialist framework even if he’s wary of claiming the label.

@wxcafe @carcinopithecus We may be working on different definitions of neoliberalism. I’ve always understood it as a philosophy where government only exists to serve the free market, and should not engage in anything but the barest minimum of regulations and certainly no social programs like welfare.

Which is not the vibe I get from Maciej’s work.

@wxcafe @carcinopithecus I’ve met him and had discussions with him, and I really don’t think he’s a neoliberal. Maciej definitely believes in the power of social government, and I suspect any distancing from communism/socialism is a mix of the audience and his own background growing up in Poland under Soviet control.

@wxcafe @carcinopithecus I see that as a sort of "know your audience" thing. He's making this advocacy to people who work in tech who typically try to be "apolitical" and whose lives tend to revolve purely around tech
