Huge respect and solidarity to @ldopa for the way this racist shit has been handled. Myasstodon has seen some enormously bad faith arguing after a user was faced with overt racism from a wl account, despite so many people stepping in to try and get the admin to stop framing it disingenuously. It's not ok.
If people want this place to be better than twitter they've got to stop acting like it is.
Please don't use 'derp' with me. It's commonly used to insult disabled people, and uses perceptions of intellectual disability as a device to insult people. Unlike a lot of other ableist words (see: moron, idiot, stupid, dumb), it's not one which has a strong history in common lexicon, a defence often used for using them.
The emoji for example has eyes wide apart (common depiction of downs) and mixed with the word 'derp' it has ugly connotations.
I think #infosec is really important. I use #linux instead of #windows, I dumped #facebook years ago, I have a #yubikey to use for everything. The kind of #technology we have to keep us safe and secure now are immense. That reminds me, I should get #alexa to order me another yubikey
Google admitted that contractors can access recordings made by Assistant, after some of its recordings were leaked.
Been absolutely refusing to use any of these devices for precisely this reason. Google and Amazon have both been very quiet on how data is kept and access to it. The recent NHS direct news, teaming up with amazon to give medical advice, horrified me for exactly this. Both companies have had data breaches, they should be allowed nowhere near NHS services
