@maloki Perfectly reasonable request, but I wish the tech could help us more, via 3rd party tagging. If I follow X and Y, and X posts something, and Y adds a tag to it, let me experience it tagged. CW and hashtags are both tags for this model. This also means you can always tag your own stuff later, when you realized you oopsed.

Some folks will never tag their stuff, so hopefully they'll never be followed by people who want tags, but content can be boosted+tagged.

Anyone poked at how #ActivityPub #federation between things like #mastodon and things like #peertube works or might work? Is there any point in following between one kind of server and the other kind? Or do I need to different identities?

@paulfree14 I sure hope the policing model remains each server police its own users, and shape the local community as they want. Between servers, however, it should be individuals can block the folks they don't like, and we can make communal advisory block-lists to make that easier. If Assange (or Trump, or whoever) sets up their own server, anyone who chooses to follow them ought to be able to do, IMNSHO, without being forced to switch servers from their home community.

I just read up on the recent issue between mastodon.social and social.targaryen.house, over m.s "silencing" s.t.h to handle a bad user, H5N10, when s.t.h admin didn't appear sufficiently responsive.

Pretty detailed thread, rehashing details and arguments, at https://ika.moe/@Naouak/778172

This might end in a long-term split between tightly-policed instances (green zone) and anything-goes instances (red zone). But who controls the policing? It risks being collective punishment.
