there are 2 camps of sjw. One is intentionally insidious. These are professional sjw. e.g. holliwood stars, mainstream journalists, politicians. They do sjw for personal gain. Usually, you don't want to deal with them.

The other, perhaps majority, are naive and innocent. e.g. millennials, students in college, even antifa members. They are the people of any political thought of any era (including WW2 Germany).

Tips for fighting the sjw in heated twitter thread: keep civil n sincere, as if the other is in front of you in real life. This is critical is you want to register your view. Say only what you truly believe. Don't exaggerate/dramatize. Don't chase low retorts. And be persistent.

@mattskala i think it's just that the misogyny and homophobia are existing old words. I mean, words do not develop in some fashion that we, or anyone in particular time frame, looking at it, would consider it logical.

i think for real reason, one has to dive into etymology and linguistics of the 2 words in depth, i.e. something like book length history.

If you read Wikipedia further down, you can see the classical sense of misogyny. Namely, Greek philosophers, Greek mythology, buddhism, christianity, islam, aristotle, charles darwin, Arthur Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, all are misogyny or misogynists. These, are the classical sense of misogyny.

while the sjw's sense of misogyny, is a explicit condemnation. In this sense, if you are a misogynist, you are a criminal, right off the bat. Because it means, you hate, contempt, prejudice, against women. There's no room as a philosophy.

note that, the classical sense of misogyny and the sjw sense, are quite different.

The classical sense misogyny, is a philosophy, thought, cultural belief, yet women can still be treat fairly, and a society where women are as happy as men. In Far East Asia (China, Japan), more or less accept this “misogyny” view, though we never call it or connote it as hate.
