    @Economic_Hitman am out of date on current university curriculum for math majors.

    could you give me a rough current list? i suppose calculus and linear algebra still the first 2 years. What's after that?

    the discrete math, they do not have the elaborate pre-requisite sequence as analysis/algebra. Anyone can start to learn graph theory, game theory, combinatorics, number theory, etc. But you don't get deep without the years of analysis/algebra of real mathematician stuff.

    for programers, you might wonder, where is graph theory, type theory, game theory, logic, combinatorics, statistics. These are not typical main courses of MATHEMATICIAN. These are called discrete math, sometimes as comp sci. (while statistics n probability r applied math)

    after that, you may have the following in arbitrary order: complex analysis, different geometry, topology, set theory. After studying these, you can consider yourself mathematician. You know what math is about, or know where to go. All the above, are traditional main math courses.

    for math major (to become mathematician), you need abstract algebra, real analysis. Order doesn't matter. After you had these, you are acquainted with math “language”, or math maturity. i.e. the way mathematician talks. These are typically 3rd year math major.

    xah's edu corner extempore! episode №20180115122340
    on math courses, and how to become a mathematician for programers

    for young coders out there, the proper order of learning math is: highschool algebra, trig, pre-calc, calculus, linear algebra, then optional intro diff equations. These are basics. Must be in that order. These are basic needed for engineering. But are not math major basics yet.

    javascript is truly the worst of worst language. wait, but is it worse than C or C++? Ok, i guess there are worse.

    @craig
    yeah but that's a different topic.
    I want to discuss js transpiler
    issue.

    sure, js is lousy, but then we just degenerate into something else.

    and on that topic, it's not new neither. C and unix, began the whole business of bringing down everything to shit, in the name of speed. From which, we get tch, C++, D, C#, perl, Java, and JavaScript. All originates from trying to fix C, and one beget another.

    so what about js? well there's wsm etc. but again, entire whole topic.

    @lnxw48a1 oh, and the result js es5 code won't be line by line similar to the es2015 one.

    @lnxw48a1 well, if typescript etc are real compilers, compile es2015 to es5. Things would work.

    am not sure what you mean?

    they don't do that because, to create real compiler, will make their their code, the compiler, much more complex. I think that's primary reason.

    yesterday, i took half a day to convert #javascript object to es2015 Map, for much more proper code. Today, i had to revert it back, cuz apparently lots browser still can't do Map. So i got more angry at these js "compilers" namely #TypeScript etc really fake compilers.

    of course, the industry monkeys will say u should “polyfill”. fill them hindquarters. If u do, the import/require syntax is not even valid es2015 code. Dragging in complex fancy packagers. WTF is comp sci when u need it?

    @se7en what's SDF?

    but anyway, it just depends on what you want to do i guess. Apparently a lot enjoy shitposting. It's just not my thing, and i don't think it benefits society or the shitposter himself long term.

    i dunno, i think you should do something good for you long term.
    well, am not sure my posting do me much good anyway, but oh well.

    have you actually ever wrote a single software program?

    it's super annoying, that the #javascript compilers out there, including @typescriptlang @babeljs they do nothing to new functions such as Map/Set. So, they are not really compilers, just transform syntax.
