    Ich habe gerade diese Reportage über "Amerikas Eltern im Kontrollwahn" gesehen und irgendwie tun mir alle Beteiligten einfach nur Leid.

    Die Kinder haben praktische keine Freiheiten und werden rund um die Uhr überwacht. Die Eltern sind dermaßen von Angst und Unsicherheit zerfressen dass sie sich nicht anders zu helfen wissen.

    TIL that some people think that "cloud kitchens" will be the next big thing

    The basic idea is that cooks rent some shared kitchen space and cook food for delivery services only ... no restaurant, no service stuff ...

    @Kaktusmaedchen Also sofortiger Push funktioniert nur wenn der entsprechende E-Mail Anbieter das unterstützt. Ansonsten kann man zumindest in den Einstellungen einstellen dass das iPhone alle 15 Minuten selbstständig nach neuen E-Mails schaut.

    @JPEG Unfortunately the activity tab is empty again. It worked perfectly well until yesterday evening before I went to bed. The last notification I’ve seen in the activity tab was your reply to our conversation about a dark mode for iOS. This morning Mast correctly send me a notification that someone has faved one of my posts while I was asleep (had AirPlane mode on over night), but the entire activity tab is empty again and I can’t get it to show anything.

    @jstncwlcx First, welcome :)

    Spontaneously I can think of 3 ways

    1. there’s a list of instances here: https://instances.social/list#lang=&allowed=&prohibited=&users=

    2. @fedi is posting about a random instance about every hour

    3. Search for hashtags related to your interests and take a look at which instances people use with which you share some interests

    @schlink The description of the SIM port attack is really instructive. Having said that I think Coinbase will need a good explanation why they allow such huge transactions without any other legitimacy checks.

    @schnittchen Good point!

    I’ve taken a quick look at their accompanying paper and there they explain that they used reCAPTCHA to detect bots and thus "any estimate of overall hijacking protection provided against bots may be biased towards the types of bots that reCAPTCHA can identify“

    So basically, if their bot detection mechanism correctly identifies a bot, using a SMS as a challenge response blocks all malicious log-in attempts of these bots

    A new report by ‚The Intercept‘ claims that Facebook has shared „anonymized“ behavioral data with countless mobile carriers and that they allow companies to reach you on the basis of an unofficial credit score, based on comparing your habits with other persons who have similar characteristics
