@anish Oh, I didn’t know that Wire has gravitated so strongly towards businesses / teams over time. So yes, there would be synergy effects with Signal.
I’m however still skeptical that companies who are accustomed to controling the entire eco-system themselves are willing to switch into a model where they rely on another party and lengthy discussions about standardization.
That’s why I think the other way round (agree on protocol, then built services) is more likely to happen.
Because at least Wire and WhatsApp have no economic incentive to do so and Signal might not be willing to risk their reputation as a privacy friendly service when they cooperate with meta-data grabbing WhatsApp.
Imo, the way to break the old silos will come from a group of like-minded services that agree on federation from the very beginning and built their business model around this idea.
