@MILITANT_PACIFIST Yes, this is possible
@bigzaphod very sad moment, but thumbs up for communicating and handling the shutdown so professionally
On the one hand I’m asking myself why Windows 95 as an electron app exists and why I’ve downloaded it
On the other hand, being able to play a round of Minesweeper after so many years was quite fun 😃
@weirdoslam you have a point there, prog tech house would be a good description as well 😜
Stumbled upon this quote a few hours ago and I still have to think about it
“The information we consume matters just as much as the food we put in our body. It affects our thinking, our behavior, how we understand our place in the world. And how we understand others.” — Evan Williams
@tursiops True that!
Here's the moon and mars :D #photography #bloodmoon #eclipse
After some searching for a good place and with a bit of luck I was able to see the blood moon and the ISS at least for a few short moments
@apothan Don’t be too disappointed, you‘ll have a chance to see a total lunar eclipse in January 2019 :)
If you live in Europe, today is the day you can see the total lunar eclipse and the ISS at around the same time (approx. 22:30 CEST)
More details here:

Btw, this is how the ISS looks like when it appears in the sky (it’s the white spot)
@matt This was my first thought as well. I’ve also found these articles which in my opinion offer a more extensive assessment of the terms:

@saxnot I think another problem is that the amount of storage an average mailbox provides isn’t that big either, so many people probably can’t even store 5GB in their accounts.
So, using cloud storage and linking to the file is a sane approach.
And that Gmail uses Google Drive isn’t surprising either.
Whether you should use Gmail / Google Drive in the first place is another discussion 😉
@saxnot Not wrong, but in this specific case I suspect that this happened because the file size was above their limit of 25MB. In this case Google stores the file in Google Drive and attaches a link to the email.

Did a little test with my olf Gmail account and when sending a file with around 7MB, the file was sent directly to my other account.
@pixelfed Ah, ok, looking forward to whatever it is :)
@cypnk this is how we roll :yayblob:
@anish Yep, over the last years we’ve seen more and more „open source“ projects which structurally are very similar to closed source ones.
And yes, I’d also like to see more efforts around decentralization and choice.
While I don’t know much about this project, Matrix basically aims at what you are proposing and afaik their encryption algorithm is very similar to the one made by Signal. So there is some hope to see something more decentralized in the future.
