    - History sync is available on Prosody and Ejabberd on server side and on Conversation, Dino and Gajim on client side. The clients and servers recommended for Jabber (and prosody is really simple to
    install and manage)
    - Bridge is available and used lot in Jabber. I personally recommend Biboumi as IRC gateway

    I can't understand why some foss projects don't use foss and open communication systems.

    For mailing lists you have the amazing Hyper Kitty and if you find IRC too old (and freenode too centralized) you have Jabber.
