@shellkr thinking about how to come up with a _new_ UI style for retoots that combines the "expand on an inspiring toot" aspect that @HerraBRE raised but not the "Twitter smirk" aspect that @maloki pointed out is a great UX challenge.

In FOSS we tend to be good at copying UI designs, cherry-picking the good parts from here and there, but coming up with new solutions is always hard!

@xs I found a whatsapp-purple library, but apparently WhatsApp is pretty aggressive at blocking whenever it detects a third-party client. Since accounts are tied to phone numbers, I can't risk getting my account blocked :(

Programmers often forget the math metaphor of "factoring" in the name "refactoring":

2x + 2y + 2z = 2(x + y + z)

(Re)factoring is about reducing repetition, not just moving things around or adding indirections.
