    Hoffentlich kommt beim nächsten IM-Protokoll nicht wieder jemand auf die Idee, irgendwelchen Shit zu modularisieren und "optional" zu machen.

    Festes Protokoll, hardcore und strikt durchsetzen, fertig! Entweder man ist kompatibel, oder eben nicht. Und für jede Protokollversion gilt: Ungültig nach Release der Nachfolgerversion + 90 Tage.

    Dann könnten wir uns den ganzen Mist wie bei XMPP nämlich sparen, und müssten Leuten nicht ständig erklären, wieso dies oder das nicht funktioniert!

    @Strubbl Bei Nextcloud hat es sich wirklich extrem gebessert und ich hatte schon lange kein unsauberes / fehlgeschlagenes Update mehr. Bei Prosody bin ich vermutlich wirklich selbst Schuld mit meinem Gefrickel. Andere Nutzer berichten mir von problemfreien Upgrades.

    @Strubbl ich muss dazu sagen: Das Problem war evtl Hausgemacht. Ich hatte Prosody schon mal auf 0.10 laufen, dann wieder auf 0.9 und nun wieder auf 0.10. Könnte sein dass ihm das nicht geschmeckt hat.

    @Strubbl Das Ding is halt: Erst mal muss man Ejabberd überhaupt zum Laufen kriegen. Und dann wäre da noch Erlang. Eine Sprache, die für einen Anfänger absolut unverstndlich ist. Da sieht es mit Lua schon etwas anders aus ... ;-)

    habe es mehrmals mit Erlang versucht, und hab dem echt eine Chance gegeben aber nein, ... da bleibe ich doch lieber bei Prosody ;-) Auch wenn es damit nicht immer leicht ist.

    Soo bin wieder Zuhause. Und das heißt: Nach der Migration von Prosody von 0.9 auf 0.10 mit gescheiterter Umlaut-Zeichencodierung weitere Beschwerden bearbeiten :D

    Und ich habe mich schon über ein scheinbar problemloses Upgrade gewundert.
