@clock ten years is charitable. If he gets reelected it's a good bet that he won't make it through his second term.

Mark Shane Hayden (msh@coales.co)'s status on Friday, 13-Mar-2020 18:58:17 EDT Mark Shane Hayden @puzzled I'll be updating the gluster server thos weekend but there will be a bit of downtime...just a heads up!

Mark Shane Hayden (msh@coales.co)'s status on Friday, 13-Mar-2020 18:57:13 EDT Mark Shane Hayden @puzzled thanks for being patient yet again!
Yeah, attachments going onto the gluster volume seem to suffer from glitches. Mastodon containers fall over when cluster has these brief inconsistencies.
It seems that cluster server and client really need to be running the same release to ensure smooth operation, and my clients are newer versions than the server.

Mark Shane Hayden (msh@coales.co)'s status on Friday, 13-Mar-2020 17:48:13 EDT Mark Shane Hayden The old toot slingin' elephant on my server is being unstable again. The docker containers like to restart every hour or so.
I did some updates last week that seemed to help a bit, but then the last couple days things seem to be acting up again.
I have a theory that the glusterfs storage server I keep the data on has a bug when under load, but I have to finally upgrade the storage server from stretch to buster to get the fix.
The joys of feeding and caring for this elephant

Mark Shane Hayden (msh@coales.co)'s status on Friday, 13-Mar-2020 10:20:18 EDT Mark Shane Hayden So Trump placed restrictions on travel between Europe and 'Murica...
*After* thousands of infected people already in his country...
And the UK is *not* included for some reason.
The wife of the Canadian Prime Minister, among others, contracted the virus during a trip to...the UK.
I know the POTUS has a tenuous grasp of reality at the best of times, but is there ANYONE in his administration paying attention to the situation?

Mark Shane Hayden (msh@coales.co)'s status on Friday, 13-Mar-2020 09:46:35 EDT Mark Shane Hayden So I recently set up a Jitsi server at work so we could have web teleconferences instead of physical meetings and the automatically generated name of the test meeting was...

...
Indeed.

Mark Shane Hayden (msh@coales.co)'s status on Thursday, 12-Mar-2020 10:44:00 EDT Mark Shane Hayden @emptyfortress I have looked at it, though not closely. It looks fantastic and the speccy compatibility is delightful, but it doesn't appear to be quite the open architecture I'm thinking of, and it seems focused on retrogamers and developers of retrogames. It's one if a few "interesting but it quite" things I've seen.
My approach would be to make a clean sheet design that deliberately doesn't focus on hi fidelity compatibility with a retro system.

Mark Shane Hayden (msh@coales.co)'s status on Thursday, 12-Mar-2020 09:51:27 EDT Mark Shane Hayden @cypnk very cool. I've worked with ESP 8266 and ESP32 modules before...great cost effective platform for hobbyists. The ESP32 would be well suited for a distraction free word processing device.
I've been thinking of a device like this as an educational or hobbyist developer system, perhaps like a miniature BBC micro. I know that many SBCs target that space but I haven't seen a platform/kit that quite fits what I imagine. I'm thinking it could use an iCE40 FPGA as well.

Mark Shane Hayden (msh@coales.co)'s status on Thursday, 12-Mar-2020 09:33:22 EDT Mark Shane Hayden @cypnk Looks sharp!
I've long pondered the idea of making a compact "open face" computer along the lines of the popular home micros of the 1980s, but in a deliberately serviceable, more open architecture design.
Back then making an open architecture design compact would've been quite a challenge but with the small, dense electronics of today it would be more feasible.
